In 2011, Sound Ceilings UK was approached by JJ. Whispers, a newly established nightclub in Crawley, Sussex. Following visits from EHO, licensing restrictions were placed on the venue due to sound leakage. These restrictions meant that the venue was being forced to cap the sound emanating from their existing Function One speaker system at 92 db on the dance floor. For a venue wanting to pump high level sound out to hundreds of party-goers on busy club nights, it was decided that this wouldn’t be loud enough so they were keen to find a solution to increase the volume whilst adhering to their license restriction. Having heard about our unique noise reduction speaker system, we were subsequently contacted by the venue owner Stuart Simpson who commissioned the installation of a 42 tile Sound Ceiling.
The Sound Ceiling was installed in a specially created aluminium grid housed in a tri-lite trussing rig hung in the middle of the dance floor . With the dance floor in such close proximity to the mainbar, the installation of the ceiling also meant that bar staff were sufficiently protected from having too deal with too much background noise when taking orders.
Prior to the installation, JJ Whispers were forced to limit the sound on the dance floor to 92 db. With the Installation of the Soundceiling, they now reach over 100db whilst still adhering to their licensing conditions.
